Agile project development guarantees delivered value to companies

21/01/2022 | Por Atlântico

“It’s not just about delivering a project, it’s about delivering it with value to the customer in a collaborative, fast and effective way. Take as an example Mobit’s case.”

With the digital transformation that we have been experiencing in recent years, it is clear that companies are looking for agile methodologies as a solution more and more every day. This is because agile eliminates gaps in projects and boosts delivery times, which in turn ensures greater customer satisfaction. It’s not just about delivering, it’s about delivering value whilst working in a collaborative, speedy and effective way.

As an example, let’s take a look at Mobit. It is one of the most renowned companies in technological solutions focused on traffic, public safety, tax inspection and public lighting, and it required a team of trained and committed professionals to work on improvements needed in some of their traffic management systems. This team would need a deep knowledge of a variety of technologies and would have to deliver with speed and quality. This is where Atlântico entered and came in to create a partnership which lasted about a year and a half to carry out the projects.

What is agile?

Briefly, an agile development methodology is an alternative to the conventional project management model, which has very specific stages. Whereas agile methods are composed of short and collaborative iterations, relying on multidisciplinary teams with a high level of autonomy in the carrying out of their work for a project that is executed with quality.

Agile management

Performed in phases, with an initial stage followed by several cycles or “iterations”, Atlântico was committed to carrying out new scope planning at each iteration, in order to achieve the delivery of the final product with the quality that Mobit deserves.

“The work plan followed the agile management methodology frameworks. Though agile management, we focus on meeting the demands of Mobit’s projects through the creation and delivery of products and services that provide a better return on investment. This is linked to the necessity of developing self-managed and self-disciplined project teams, with a high level of motivation and productivity”, explains the Atlantico Portfolio manager Gabriela Costa, who participated throughout the development of the project.

All project cycles were executed by a team of Atlantico specialists, who were trained in the technologies used in the projects and were guided by short development cycles that gave speedy deliveries. Throughout the process, tests were carried out on the implemented code to ensure their correct functionality, in addition to helping to define the development tools and environments, providing all the necessary technical guidance for the Mobit team.

Some technologies used:

  • Java
  • vavr
  • DeltaSpike
  • RESTful, RESTEasy, RESTassured
  • arquillian
  • Junit
  • Keycloak
  • PostgreSQL

“Working with agile methodologies is one of the best ways to create a flexible and efficient management system, making it simpler to maintain deadlines and productivity, to reduce costs and to keep the product in alignment with the client’s objectives”, says Gabriela Costa.

Customer Testimonial

“We are very happy with the partnership between Mobit and Atlântico. It was built to help us in the development and updating of our flagship product. The project was very satisfactory, both in the delivery of the update and in the follow up at all stages. Today we are able to adapt more quickly to the processes of our contractors, thanks to this technological platform.”, Odilon Araújo, Mobit’s R&D manager.
